Hybrid fs/ps Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Scattering (CARS) module

Speckodyne has developed a CARS add-on system for hybrid fs/ps CARS rotational and vibrational spectroscopy in high-temperature gaseous flows. The CARS add-on module is powered by a regeneratively amplified Ti:sapphire  femtosecond  laser equipped with a tunable Optical Parametric Amplifier (OPA) which extends the wavelength coverage of the femtosecond laser source to provide the additional beams required as input into the CARS module.

Input requirements

-OPA: TOPAS Prime Plus
-Pump beam: 0.5-2 W Total power (signal+idler) at 1 kHz
-Fundamental beam: 1-2W output from the laser (e.g., Spectra-Physics® Solstice Ace) @800nm

Output specifications

-Broadband Pump and Stokes beams with >60% of pump efficiency
-Computer controlled tuning (0-4000 cm-1 spectral range)
-Probe beam <5 cm-1 (spectral resolution)
-Computer controlled adjustable CARS angle (interaction region)
-Computer controlled delays

Other specifications

-Dimensions: ~1 ft x 1ft x 1ft
-Weight: ~25lbs
-Compact, portable, rugged design

Applications

-Hybrid fs/ps CARS thermometry in research laboratories, high speed wind tunnels and high-enthalpy flow facilities in the aerospace industry.

The hybrid fs/ps CARS module has been demonstrated for vibrational and rotational temperature measurements in hypersonic nitrogen flow at the AEDC Hypervelocity Tunnel 9.
